adoption story Friday

I always love getting to share our story and passion for adoption on other’s blogs.  Somehow writing for other people makes me step out of myself more and see our story from a new vantage point.  I always pray about what I am going to say, and sometimes the things my fingers type are not what I expected.  Honored to be sharing on The Andrews Family Adoption blog today….

I was so excited when Rachel asked me to share a little bit about our adoption story on her blog.  Adoption + orphan care is something that is really near and dear to my heart.  Yet it was something that 3 years ago wasn’t even on my radar.  I had never been (or planned to go) to Africa much less adopt from there!  We were on our way to living the good ole “american dream”.  I guess you could say our world got rocked when my husbands job moved us away from my family/all I’d known to west Texas and then 8 months later….the oil bust happened and everything we knew was no more.  That rocked our little comfortable world + we started to trust in the One who would never go bust.  Shortly after we both went out on our own with business and we were enjoying the freedom that brought.  [it’s two fold:freedom from being your own boss, yet you can’t “leave work at work”]  I was asked to go on a mission trip to El Salvador with our church spring break of 2011 and it ignited something new in me.  I had the opportunity to use my craft [photography] for good and I was hooked.  I came home telling my husband all about my week spent living with a family in El Sunza, and God quickly stirred our hearts to go on a mission trip together before we had kids.  The cool thing was we already knew where our kid [at the time, it was just 1 we thought!] was coming from, so to Ethiopia we went. Let me backtrack…

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!
