happy 5 years Midland.

I don’t think I would have believed you 5 years ago if you told me that I would fall in love with this community.

[I had to go back & find some pics from our first year here and the start of some beautiful friendships]

[this is NOT in midland.  haha we have to get away to get this pretty lake!]

[my first friend in Midland!  she’s been such a treasure.  love those Camp Mystic connections!]

I came to Midland kicking and screaming.  read: more like bawling crying.

I am a central texas girl born & bred.  I like green trees, rolling hills, and water.

instead, I got stuck with dry, flat, brown, water-less west texas.

but what the lanscape doesn’t convince you of, the people will.

this place is beautiful.  the people that make up this place that is.

I honestly could [am] crying thinking back to my first few months here.

I hated it.  I had no friends, and I knew no one.  and for a girl who comes from a town where both sides of her family for multiple generations come from, I didn’t like that.

no one “knew” me here.

what I didn’t see at the time, is that was a beautiful thing.  A chance to “start over”.  To start from scratch and just be “Wynne”.  Not “so and so’s granddaughter/daughter/niece”.  It was hard.

but what I found ultimately – was myself.  my true self.  my deep down, to the core, who I am self.

I didn’t have to “fit in” or do what everyone expected of me, but we could pave our own way.  and it was FREEING!

Since then, God has flipped our world upside down.  we have fallen in love with Africa, adoption, missions, sending, going, giving, and the like.

and God has been faithful once again to bring us like minded people.  even here in the desert!

it’s said that God does amazing things in the desert – and boy do I believe it.

I am laughing thinking about the scene at my house yesterday – people in and out all day, little kids, high school kids, friends, moms, college kids, pastors.

COMMUNITY.

I’m thinking about the night before we went to meet Camp + Asher, and the 25+ friends who swarmed in to be the hands and feet of Christ when I needed them.

this place, this desert, it’s home.

it might not always be our physical home, but it will always hold a very special place.

this community has taught me what friendship, sacrifice, joy, fun, and love comes from doing life together.

Midland, you might be ugly, you might even be in the middle of no where + you might not have a Chipoltle, but you’ve been good to us.

happy 5 years!

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!

let'e be friends
