West Texas Weekend

Stephen and I had a very eventful weekend!  We decided to do a “date night extravaganza” west Texas style!  We drove to the McDonald Observatory on Friday night to go to the “star party”.  It was a beautiful drive through the Davis mountains – it’s amazing that we have mountains in Texas!  We got to the Observatory, walked around, took some pics, and then had dinner at the Star Date Cafe before the “star party” program began.  Then we moved to the amphitheater and had a naked eye tour of the night sky – it was BEAUTIFUL!  I love looking at stars and it was so dark and high in the mountains so it was a perfect view.  After that we got to look through telescopes at Saturn, the moon, and other star clusters.  After the star party, we drove to Fort Davis to turn in for the night at Hotel Limpia

Saturday morning we got up and had a very yummy breakfast at this old drugstore across the street from the hotel and took a quick stroll in downtown Fort Davis.  Then we headed out to the San Soloman spring outside of Balmothea, Texas.  It was SO neat – it’s a natural fed pool!  Much like Barton Springs, but I think it’s bigger and nicer?  Very interesting people watching that’s for sure.  It was so fun to swim around, jump off the diving board, and just hang out.  This would be a great place to go w/ a group of friends for the day with floats, lunch and lawn chairs.  The water was crystal clear and there were little fishes swimming all around.  You can also scuba dive here!  crazy!
After the swimming, we headed back to Midland.  I watched “Fired UP” int he car on the way home – so funny.  love the cheerleader movies.  Our good friends Becca and Clark were in town visiting his parents and they came by the casa to hang out and then we met up with them later to go to the Drive-in!  This is something else we have not done in Midland.  We did it right – pre show marg’s at the Ruckers and food at the Drive In.  I was VERY nervous about the “chiuwawa” but I was pleasantly surprised.  Still need more pics (hint hint Becca)
We set up camp, ate our dinner and got ready for the movie – The Proposal.  It was a pretty good movie, and I recommend seeing it!  We had so much fun catching up with our friends and I’m looking forward to seeing them on their turf in Fort Worth next month!
Sunday night was pretty hysterical – starting w/ me trying to bat at the batting cages and ending with a 7 mile run in the rain….more about that later
All in all, it was a GREAT WEEKEND!

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!

let'e be friends

  1. Becca says:

Yea! I will send you some pics. Had so much fun with you this weekend! Can’t wait till July!

  2. This post brought back some great memories for me… believe it or not my family and I used to live in Marfa… so Midland was the BIG city for us. AND we definitely went swimming there ALL the time (I loved the fish and the COLD water) and spent lots of time at the McDonald Observatory too … I remember there being LOTS of ladybugs up there?! Anyway… I am loving following your journey through West Texas… such fun! Hope y’all are doing well!!
