Adventures in babysitting Day #1

Well, we made it through day one!

We had a great day with the kids. It was the crazy night with the boys at various activities & Molly at swimming – so we ordered pizza & played. I wish I had my pictures to post that Molly took, she’s 4. She’s obsessed with taking pictures on my iPhone & Nikon. We are going to take pictures this weekend together. She took some good ones of the family dog, Tucker. I’ll post later. Just wanted to recap some highlights 🙂

  • making snowballs from the now dirt snowman
  • putting together 3 puzzles with Molly
  • watching Olympics with Ben
  • Will wearing 2 different shoes to TKD (oh well)
  • Tucker & Milly playing too hard – having to take Milly home
  • waking up at 3 am to a screaming baby who missed his momma and dada {sad-this was a first to me}
  • stephen trying to break all the rules while I am trying to FOLLOW them 🙂
  • stephen serenading the kids with the Aggie band music this morning at breakfast (their parents are Red Raiders!)
  • Sam’s facial expressions, funny noises, dancing to Aggie band music
  • forgetting Sam’s lunch and doing a fast drop off in the HEB parking lot before going home to check on Milly & head to work!
  • WHEW! I am tired already! looking forward to a fun week!
Enjoy this video of Sam & Stephen jamming out at the breakfast table this am!

Oh, and if you are in need of a short devo this morning – this one is really good!!

Why God Closes Doors

READ | Jeremiah 10:23-24

A blockaded opportunity is a useful teaching tool. God’s ultimate objective is to mold us into the image of His Son, and toward that end, He at times prevents us from doing or having something we desire.

  • 1. Closed doors prevent mistakes. Just because a path is clear does not mean it is the one God intends for us to follow. Sometimes we won’t have the information we need to make a wise decision, so He bars the way either spiritually or physically. The Holy Spirit can see the whole road map for our lives, which is why we are to follow His guidance.
  • 2. Closed doors redirect our walk. Rest assured, God never leaves a willing servant with nothing to do. The alternate opportunity He has in mind will yield bigger fruit, more satisfaction, and greater glory for Him.
  • 3. Closed doors test faith and build perseverance. Waiting for the Lord to speak or act is hard, particularly when our desire has been denied. But we’ll learn wisdom, patience, and trust by pausing prayerfully until He reveals His will.
  • 4. Closed doors buy us time. We are not always as prepared as we’d like to think. God may temporarily hold shut an opportunity for service until a believer is properly equipped for kingdom work.

In spite of the repeated use of “closed door” in this devotion, the real message is that Godopens doors. He has created a perfect pathway for us to follow. Keep your feet on it, and you will walk over thresholds leading to service, satisfaction, and glory for your Lord.

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!

let'e be friends

sounds like fun- it is so nice that other people let you “practice” with their children before you have your own. it has helped me out a lot!
