why don’t we see miracles? {by my sister Rachel}

Allowing you to hear the beautiful stories from my sister, Rachel, and our time in Africa together.  This is from our first day in Korah, Ethiopia.

In Rachel’s words….

I’ve always wondered why we don’t see miracles happen today. I’m talking about big miracles, like in the Bible. Like how Jesus healed the blind, how water was turned into wine, how followers of Jesus could escape a burning furnace untouched and having seen Jesus in the fire. Why don’t miracles happen like that still?

Well, they do and I got to see it first hand!

While in Korah we go to participate in a coffee ceremony.  We were broken up into small groups and each went to a different families home for the ceremony. The woman’s home my group went to (which included Wynne:)) was a small room, smaller than most peoples bedrooms, where she, her husband, and 5 children lived.  We crowded inside and watched this woman as she prepared coffee for us.  Again, these people are so giving! She works for Mission Ethiopia making jewelry, while her husband sits on the streets of Korah begging since he is a leaper and can’t find work.

For 5 years she lay in bed sick.  Paralyzed from the waist down, she could not move her legs for 5 years, keeping her in bed the whole time.  One night she saw Jesus in her dreams and believed.  The next day she was healed! Got up and walked!

Her parents grew up believing in witch craft, but not anymore.  Everyone in her family is now a believer in Christ.  She goes to Bible Study for 2 hours everyday before work. Can you imagine devoting that much time every morning before work to go to a Bible Study?  Even though their circumstances aren’t ideal, they make due with what they have and love each other and God with everything they have.  They were the kindest people, had smiles on their faces the entire time! If that isn’t a HUGE miracle, I don’t know what is! I still can’t answer the question of why I haven’t seen anything like that before, but now that I’ve seen it I know miracles do happen!

How in the world could you not believe in God once you’ve met a woman that received a miracle so big?  God is working in the lives of these people and it is so apparent when you are around them.

Just to add on Rach’s words, at the end of our time together when we were praying for her we asked what requests she had.  The ONLY request she had was for her children to know Jesus everyday.
let that encourage us & let us pray for this sweet family!

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!
