stocking the pantry.

so one thing I did no expect to fall in love with so quickly, was cooking.  I have never really been much of a cook [ask my husband].  I do recall making one really awesome meal [chicken fried steak with homemade gravy] as we were iced into our condo those first few months of married life, but besides that, I got nothing.  Stephen always said, “when we have kids, you will cook”.  and he was right!  I have fallen in love.  One of my favorite guilty pleasures is lying down on the couch during afternoon nap time & watching my beloved Pioneer Woman on Food Network.  She had an episode about “stocking up” and right before “school” started and I was being the phycho organizer woman that I am [thanks mom], I decided to get her list out and stock up!  The pic shows the before + after.  and yall, since I stocked up, I have only had to go to the grocery store for less than 10 things each week to make up to 3 meals!  That’s pretty good.  It was a little expensive getting it together, but now it saves me time!

I also have made searching Pinterest for new recipes a new favorite past time.  Mostly I steal them from my sister, Rachel, or Pioneer Woman, or my friend Jenna at Eat Live Run, but still. they are all in one pretty place on my Pinterest board.  easy to find.

My new favorite thing is that I got these cute wire baskets from Home Goods and every time I come home from the store, I put all the ingredients for my meals in them for the week.  That way, I remember why I bought what I bought and what recipe it’s for.  and for next week, I try to find recipes that can utilize the left over fresh ingredients.

so what about you?  where do you find your best recipes?  what tips do you have for your pantry?

Hey, I'm Wynne!

Hi, friend! First, I truly am so giddy that you are here. I want you to know I believe in you and all the ways you are growing towards living a more intentional life.  I genuinely hope you are encouraged from our time together here.

A little about me, I’m a type 7 on the enneagram, a total extrovert + people lover, entrepreneur, connector, storyteller, people gatherer, and passionate wife, mama + friend. I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and surrounded by people I love. Give me a day in the outdoors disconnected from wifi, and I am a happy girl. I run on oat milk lattes, Jesus, gratitude journaling and kitchen dance parties with my four kids.
Welcome, come on in!

let'e be friends

Right now one of my favorite places to get recipes from is my Williams and Sonoma French cookbook. I got it as a gift from my sister in law and I use it all the time. It is such a great way to have a ‘staycation’ with just me and my husband and a bottle of wine. So simple and lovely. 🙂

  2. Ooo! First off… I love your writing style 🙂 but also, I love this idea to stock up the pantry! And all of your organization looks awesome! I love the idea of putting the week’s ingredients in a basket. If we have stuff ready and waiting, I’m much more likely to cook!

I have been strangely loving to cook lately, too! Tonight I’m making the one-pot cheesy chicken pasta I pinned from you. I love the idea of wire baskets with the week’s meals! xo

I’d love to stock up but I guess I haven’t really jumped into it because it’s just my husband and I for now 🙂 I do like to make big batches of soup, chili, stew, and beans and then freeze those for future meals! And my favorite places to get recipes: Pioneer Woman, my Nanna, and blogs!

taylor, I totally get it! it was so hard when it was just stephen & I! but I love the idea of making batches of things & freezing them for later….maybe I’ll figure that out next 😉

I’m glad you learned to love to cook, that means there is hope for me yet! I am not a fan of cooking at all, but I’m been trying to learn to cook more meals so I have some dinner staples by the time our little Ukrainian beauties arrive.

    cheers.

LOVE this!!!! I love to find recipes, but don’t like to cook. Well, it’s kinda weird, i like to make new things, but not to really cook. Aaron LOVES to cook, I just like to try new things. He is great at just looking in the fridge and pantry and making something marvelous. I need a recipe to follow along exactly!
